Verse and chorus chord progression and tune written early 80s (still have an ancient cassette with me "di-di-didd"ing over the guitar) and then fleshed out more in the 90s on home eight track with added first two verses/choruses and middle eight. A little more recent tweaking and there you are.
Lyrics are mostly impressions from my social life in the 90s but do focus on a few people in particular. Just realised the original line of the chorus did make it in to these words: "The sun never shines for you." Oh well...
