The title is taken from a wildlife documentary about birdlife on the equator. The words just struck me. It's mainly about the memory of letting myself be consumed by a relationship and the resulting confusion and spite when it ended. I was in my twenties.
Rerecorded in 1990 on home 8-track but later much better as a Red Flower Crescent song in 2008. I recorded another version again for the new album but now might put that on as a bonus track.
