about

For this song I wanted to get into the head of someone who faces punshment for a crime he acknowledges unremorsefully. I wanted it to mean something so the crime had to be bad.

This was written before paedophilia rose in public consciousness to assume its unignorable position (rightly so). I wrote a short story called Smile centred on the issue in this year which I read out on radio. I also sent it in to the Age short story competition and remember comments about how the issues of child abuse and incest were prevalent among the entries that year.
